BASIC OBEDIENCE

$150

Six-week group class for family dogs

Whether your dog is totally green or already knows a thing or two, this course is designed for dogs of all ages to learn to focus around distractions. Dogs get positive exposure to novel environments, sights, sounds, smells, other dogs, and people. They learn how to stay connected with you even with other interesting things going on.

The course focuses on things that keep your dog safe and well-mannered. You get bonus articles about how to get the best behavior from your dog and avoid common training mistakes. It's a great way to bond with your dog while teaching them that the world is not a scary place. Studies have shown that dogs who attend classes when young have less aggression, fearfulness, touch sensitivity, and noise phobia and are more trainable in general*.

Required vaccines: Rabies (if old enough), Distemper/Parvo (at least 2 for puppies), & Bordetella (Kennel Cough). There is no age requirement.

Registration fee is non-refundable and non-transferable

CANINE GOOD CITIZEN

$150

Six-week group class for family dogs

Take your dog's education a step further with the Canine Good Citizen course. Your dog will learn skills to be a well-mannered good citizen who can go with you anywhere.

The course prepares your dog to pass the AKC Canine Good Citizen test. This is a 10 item test designed for real-world scenarios. Will your dog accept petting from a friendly stranger without jumping on them? Can they pass by another dog and not try to invade their space? Can they handle walking through a crowd?

The CGC test is given at the end of the course. If you pass, your dog earns the title of Canine Good Citizen.

Requirements: Dogs must first complete the Basic Obedience course and be friendly with other dogs and people.

Registration fee is non-refundable and non-transferable

SUTTON'S SOUTHERN PET RETREAT

Basic Obedience

Improvements are being made to the training area which means classes are on hold until construction is complete. This includes a new building so that classes will no longer be rained out. We hope it will be ready by Summer. It will be worth the wait!

Email us if you would like to be added to the list to be notified when classes resume. In the meantime, we are still holding private obedience training in the smaller building.

"This was the best dog training class I have ever seen or attended. Everything taught in class was done to provide handlers with the knowledge, training, and confidence to keep their dogs safe in real-life situations."
